Using the Freshwater Health Index to Assess Hydropower Development Scenarios in the Sesan, Srepok and Sekong River Basin
This study applies the Freshwater Health Index (FHI) to assess sustainable water resource management in the transboundary Sesan, Srepok and Sekong (3S) River Basin. It evaluates freshwater ecosystem health, ecosystem services, water governance, and the impacts of different hydropower development scenarios to support more sustainable river basin management.
One of our SEI authors and belonging to the SUMERNET network has co-authored this paper about how to facilitate better management of Southeast Asia’s transboundary Sesan, Sekong and Srepok (3S) River basin. The paper used the Freshwater Health Index (FHI) to diagnose the basin’s current and likely future level of freshwater health.
